During spying, in many cases, when a spy or a detective searches a suspect person, he needs to focus his attention on what he reads so that he can understand the mindset of the person.
Or, you get a task to find the specific place, name, events or any other from one or many books, but you have a little time to read them totally.
Anyhow you may have to read a book, but you have not enough time to read all part of that. A book may contain many issues and matters, but you need only one or two issues.
ONE
When you take a book, observe the title name including the title page’s design style so that you can take a concept on the book.
See the publishing date. In some cases the publishing date give sense the period of incident and writer. For example, the book named ``the classification of our society’’ and it is published November 1890 gives a concept on the last of the nineteenth century. Or, you get a story-book whose write is a man of the eighteen century, so the book may focus the culture and lifestyle of that period.

Look at the edition history of it, if there is written any thing. More editions explain its popularity.
THREE
Read who publish it, or who sponsor or patronize it. Some times people or organaiztion
Publish books only on the background of their own ideology. For example, when a church or a mosque publishes a book, the book may reflect their religious ideology.
Some books notify their writer’s identity. You can read it.
FOUR
To get an idea of a book, pay attention the content of the book so that you can realize the whole concept of the book.
To get a summery of a chapter, observe the headings, subheadings, introduction and conclusion.
FIVE
The index section that generally is placed in the last of a book, can give you a specific page where you can get description on the issue that you are looking for.
Suppose you have a book on the history of nuclear scientist of the world-wide containing more thatn1200 pages, but you need to know only the Pakistani nuclear scientist Abdul Qadir khan and you have no time to read the entire book. So you go to index section, search there according to the list of alphabetic words.
SIX
Some reader have a criteria --- when their attention are caught in a line or topic, they might mark it by underlining or somehow. You can remember it.
SEVEN
When someone collect or buy a book, they may write his name or some thing. See that.
During the reading of a book some people might be much attractive on a topic of the book and might write comment in the margin of the book. Pay attention on that so that you can trace the concept of the reader.
